Two-year old Sofia shot by stray bullets
This tragic event happened in Iraja, a suburb in the north of Rio. The
family was having a lunch in a
restaurant and Sofia wanted to go in the play area just next to it. Her parents
allowed her as it was protected by a door
and they could see her through the window.
Unfortunately, the police were
inspecting the district, due to the
important number of stolen cars. The
police identified a suspect but he didn’t stop and they opened fire.
All the families ran into the play area to pick up their kids and run for shelter but Sofia’s parents couldn’t
find her. After a few seconds, Sofia’s dad finally found her, at the top of the slide, motionless. She had received a bullet in the head.
They tried to reach the hospital, under the desperate looks of the crowd,
but it was too late.

Cet
évènement tragique est arrivé à Iraja, une banlieue du nord de Rio. La famille était au restaurant et Sofia voulait se
rendre dans l’aire de jeux voisine. Ses parents l’ont autorisée car l’aire de jeux
était protégée par une porte et ils pouvaient la surveiller par la fenêtre.
Malheureusement,
la police était en train d’inspecter la zone, en raison du nombre important de
voitures volées à cet endroit. Les policiers
identifièrent un suspect qui prit la fuite et ils ouvrirent le feu.
Toutes les
familles se précipitèrent dans l’aire de
jeux pour récupérer leurs enfants et se mettre à
l’abri mais les parents de Sofia ne la virent
pas immédiatement. Après quelques secondes, Le père de Sofia la trouva
finalement en haut du toboggan, inerte. Elle avait reçu une balle dans la tête.
Sous les regards désespérés de la foule, Ils la conduisirent le plus vite possible à
l'hôpital mais il était trop tard.
