PRESIDENT BOLSONARO SAYS BRAZIL IS BROKE

President Bolsonaro said on Tuesday, January 5, that his country was “broke”.

Initially, Brazil is not considered a rich country but because of the economic crisis plaguing the entire world due to the coronavirus pandemic, the country has seen its economy collapse. A month ago, grants were paid each month for a duration of 9 months to more than 68 million Brazilians to help them make ends meet.

However, these payments ended a month ago as the markets grew too worried about the country’s debts.

The president then said that his country was “broke” and that there was nothing he could do about that. He also blamed this poverty on the covid crisis, which he says is “fuelled by the lackluster press”. He also explained that because of the health restrictions imposed by the states, the country’s economy could not work.

The country has numbered 60,000 new coronavirus cases and 1,171 deaths over the last 24 hours and the figures will probably increase because of Christmas and the New-Year celebrations.

Le président Bolsonaro a déclaré ce mardi 5 janvier que son pays était « fauché ».

En effet, le Brésil n’est pas considéré comme un pays riche mais à cause de la crise économique que subit le monde entier due à la pandémie du coronavirus, le pays a vu son économie s’écrouler. Il y a encore un mois, des subventions étaient versées chaque mois depuis 9 mois à plus de 68 millions Brésiliens afin de les aider à vivre.  

Ces paiements ont pris fin il y a maintenant un mois car le marché était trop inquiet par rapport aux dettes du pays.

Le président a alors déclaré que son pays était « fauché » et qu’il ne pouvait rien y faire. Il a également expliqué cette pauvreté par la crise du covid qui est selon lui « alimentée par une presse médiocre ». Il a aussi expliqué qu’à cause des restrictions sanitaires imposées par les états, l’économie du pays ne pouvait pas fonctionner.

On rappelle que le pays à compté au cours des dernières 24 heures 60.000 nouveaux cas de coronavirus et 1171 morts et ces chiffres vont probablement encore augmenter à cause de Noël et du Nouvel-An.
