1000-day Olympic countdown

The 1000-day countdown to the 2016 Olympics began with a blast on Friday 8. This big explosion marks the start of the construction of the future trans-Olympic expressway in Rio, and a new tunnel. The expressway will connect the city with the future Olympic sites, and will extend 23 kilometres through a mountain. Due to the mountainous region, some of the Olympic sites are currently only accessible through a coastal road

The Brazilian Olympic Committee President said that this construction has a historic importance as a legacy for the people. The project has been supported from the start by everyone involved in the Olympic Games.

Le compte à rebours de 1000 jours des Jeux Olympiques de 2016 a commencé le vendredi 8 novembre par une explosion. Cette grosse explosion marque le début de la construction de la future autoroute trans-olympique à Rio, et d'un nouveau tunnel. L'autoroute va relier la ville aux futurs sites olympiques et inclura 23 kilomètres à travers la montagne. En raison du relief montagneux, quelques-uns des sites olympiques sont actuellement uniquement accessibles par une route côtière.

Le président brésilien du comité olympique, a déclaré que cette construction avait une importance historique, qu'elle ferait partie du patrimoine national. Le projet avait reçu un soutien unanime dès le départ.
